33 Things We Did This Weekend

Let’s get right down to it. Kelsey goes back to work half days this week. It’s been a super hard week for her with all the anticipation and anxiousness of being away from Rooney for the longest amount of time in more than a year, if you count her pregnancy (and we do).

So, we tried to make this an extra special weekend. Here are 33 things we did.

1. Watched Rooney nap in the cutest strawberry outfit.

2. Enjoyed the beautiful weather at the Stelter Mustache Bash. (Yep, that’s real…well, mine is, not Rooney’s.)

3. Moved Rooney into her room and into her crib. (Best 11 hours of sleep she’s ever had.)

4. Ran nine miles on Saturday morning.

5. Took a nap with Rooney while Kels finally got her “prenatal” massage and did some shopping.

6. Took some family photos.

7. Took a family nap on the couch.

8. Taught Rooney how to do assisted sit-ups.

9. Danced in the living room.

10. Hung some lights on our deck.

11. Grilled pork chops and stuffed mushrooms.

12. Filled out day care paperwork.

13. Held Rooney in this position to mend her torticollis.

14. Stared at the chubbiest cheeks this side of the Mississippi.

15. Dug out Rooney’s first camera given to her by Suze.

16. Made the first batch of iced coffee of the spring/summer. (Thanks, 1 cup Awesome.)

17. Dropped Rooney’s things off at day care.

18. Watched church online.

19. Cleaned the house while my girls napped.

20. Played in Rooney’s room some more.

21. Spotted Rooney on the chest press. Gotta start somewhere…

22. Enjoyed an impromptu visit from my family (grandparents, mom and nephew).

23. Watched GG (great grandma) and Grandma D love on Rooney.

24. Played football with Kaleb outside.

25. Saw the heart of a 7-year-old hold his little cousin. He loves her so much.

26. Listened to stories of how my mom was as a child.

27. Walked to Arby’s for supper. Kaleb pushed Rooney the whole way.

28. Smiled when Kaleb gave Rooney the toy he got with his meal. So generous.

29. Enjoyed our new landscaping before the family headed out.

30. Gave Rooney a bath.

31. Had a team hug before Rooney went to bed.

32. Held Kelsey as she cried knowing this was the last night before she went back to work. It’s sad, but we know it will be fine after we get through the transition and that Rooney will have so much fun with her new friends. (Regardless, it’s still a little sad.)

33. Vowed that we will use our real camera more in the future.

Hope you all had a fantastic weekend! What was your favorite part of the weekend?

Three cheers for Monday…

Husband to Kelsey. Father to Rooney. Follower of Jesus. Born and raised in Iowa. I like blogging. Bulleted lists excite me. Thanks for stopping by.

  1. Praying for Kelsey today. The first day away is rough. Hang in there and enjoy coming home to her! :)

  2. I’ll be praying for you guys!

  3. I love the pic with #15. So cute!!

Time goes way too fast, huh?? I feel like it was just a few months ago that my daughter was a baby. Now she’s 5!

  4. PS- with going to back to work brings an even bigger love for the weekends. I remember being soooo excited for Friday afternoons knowing I got to be with her for the whole weekend!

  5. Teared up at #32. I am 31 weeks pregnant with baby #2 and will be staying home after the baby is born. I worked after baby #1 though so I understand and hope you transition and adjust quickly!!

  6. Awesome post – very pertinent to my family. My wife and I are currently pregnant with our third child, the boy is due in just six weeks. Yesterday, we went to the birthing center of the hospital where the baby will be delivered. We’re very excited! Thanks for sharing your enthusiasm over your family!!

  7. Kelsey, Praying for you this morning! Our adoption papers are asking us to give them a daycare plan. If I get upset thinking about what we’ll have to do in 2 years, I can’t imagine what you are feeling today. I can try, but I know it doesn’t come close! So, I’m praying for you!

  8. Hugs to you (all three) today as you start a new routine! And prayers for a good transition to day care. Good call going back to work half days, I think that will help ease the transition.

  9. I am curious about your church online…is the baby a reason why you don’t attend services in an actual church? God Bless you!

    • the baby is the reason we watch church online. We’ve taken her a few times, and the timing just hasn’t worked out. We’re hoping to start attending regularly again soon, because we miss the fellowship a lot.

  10. Thanks for the Iced Coffee shout out! So. Addicting.

  11. love this post!! time flies huh!??

  12. Gosh u guys make me cry u r the sweetest family ever, love seeing all the pix of the fam!
