Letters to Rooney, 5 Months

Dear Rooney,

If I have learned anything in the past three months, it’s that I don’t want to work full-time away from you. I miss you too much, and I am missing out on all the fun things you’re doing! I hope that some time in the next year I am able to see you more during the day. Would you be OK with that?

I am so proud of you when you learn new things. I cried the other day when I saw you sitting up by yourself. You did it for about three minutes straight! That is very advanced, little lady. Next skill to perfect? Getting those cute little toes in your mouth! (You’re trying so hard!)

Since you’re so smart, maybe you can help me figure out how to keep you a baby. How to memorize your adorable little body and keep it in my brain forever. Gosh, I love you so much.

P.S. You make me want more!

Dear Rooster,

What a ride the last five months have been. You have grown and changed so much. I was just telling your mom that I finally feel like I can play with you and not have to worry about you breaking.

My favorite thing to do is to teach you new things. We are currently working on sitting up, getting up on all fours and putting the pacifier back in your mouth. Once you master the pacifier we won’t have to come to your room in the middle of the night anymore. That would be pretty neat!

You started growling the other day and it’s both the cutest and funniest thing I’ve ever seen. My heart is exploding with love for you. I hope you can feel it.

Seeing your personality come to life has brought great joy to us as parents. A nice confirmation that we must be doing something right.

My only wish is that you would let me bulb syringe the boogers out of your nose. I don’t care much for watching you breathe them in and out.

  1. She’s so cute! I love those cheeks!

  2. The growling was hilarious the other night! She’s so sweet and growing so quickly. I’m so honored that I get to be a part of her life.

  3. feeling the same things about working full time. I work from home but it still takes me away more than I want from my girl…praying through all of that right now!

  4. oh my goodness.
    that face.

    [ LOVE }

  5. My word, that is one incredibly cute child. I hope you take it as a compliment when I say that I just want to eat her all up.

  6. Dad – have you seen the Nose Frida? Pretty gross upon first look, but AWESOME. Henry has a pretty bad case of the daycare-baby-constantly-congested syndrome (I named that myself so pardon how really intellectual it sounds).

  7. You will never regret working part-time. I work 3 days a week and I’m home on Thursdays and Fridays with my 3-year-old and 4-month-old sons. I love that it gives us time to go on adventures together (bookstore, zoo, park, etc) or just stay home and play. I also do most of my grocery shopping, Target runs, and cleaning on those 2 days so that we have Saturday and Sunday as a family with very little distractions.

  8. I love these letters you write to Rooney! Wish Jeremy and I had done that. Kelsey, I pray you can soon be home with Rooney and the rest of the Williams that are to come! It is a blessing and these days will be gone before we know it!

    Isn’t my granddaughter adorable???
I NEED a print of that picture!! Can you please order me one?
[maybe you can send it to MC walmart photo and we can pick it up this weekend?]

  10. What an excellent idea, writing letters to your daughter! Olivia is two months old — I can start this now :).

  11. Oh. My. Goodness.
She is so precious. I must say that God is an expert creator. She is beautiful. It’s been SO much fun watching not only Rooney grow, but watching the three of you grow together. It is so encouraging to see God moving and teaching you all. I have been moved by your open hearts and honesty about your struggles as parents and as a couple as your try to adjust and have been praying for you. You are awesome William’s family. And I pray more and more blessings upon you.

    And that growling?
