One Year From Today

Isn’t it amazing how much can happen in a year?

Do you ever wonder where you’ll be one year from today? Where you’ll live, where you’ll work, how you will have changed?

Will the things you’re hoping for right now will have come to fruition?

The end of a calendar year typically causes us to reflect, and the beginning of a new year causes us to look ahead. But the back-to-school season has always been one of my favorites, and even though I’ve long left school, it still energizes me to this day.

One year from today, I want to be in a different place than I am right now.

That’s why we are so intentional with our lives, our decisions, our goals.

In one year from today, I pray that we are:

  • Happier in our work situations (perhaps working part-time or from home).
  • Not addicted to sugar.
  • Living more active lives – like riding our bikes to the grocery store instead of driving.
  • Holding our chiropractic adjustments and placing health as a priority.
  • Confident in the decisions we make for our daughter and not accepting that it “has to be this way” (sending her to full-time day care, etc.)
  • Feeling ready to try for another baby(???)

I don’t think that simply putting these thoughts out into the universe will make them happen, but writing them down, continuing to hustle every single day, refusing to settle, seeking His will and asking God for His blessings just might.

What do you want to do in the next year?

I love my husband, my kids and the Internet.

  1. Thanks for reminding me to set goals and think about the future! I always try to keep them in mind, but sometimes they get put on the sideburner. I’m going to write mine down today! :)

  2. Hmmm, let’s see. A year from today my son will be two years old and our new baby will be about five months old. Wow! I hope that by then we will have purchased a home (in the South Miami area) and that I will fully embrace my role as a stay-at-home mom and not have any doubts. I also hope that my husband and I will have a stronger marriage and figure out how to make more time for us. That’s really about it.

  3. I think your goals definitely sound attainable!

To add some fun, have you tried Timehop? It sends you a daily email showing you what you tweeted, posted on Facebook, or where you checked in a year ago. It might be neat to see where you’ve come this year, as well!

  4. I hope that one year from today I will have figured out what I want to do with my life and will have figured out how to get there. Sometimes life can seem so complicated but looking back it wasn’t that bad. I hope that one year from today I’ll look back on August 2012 and think “It wasn’t so bad back then and it all worked out great” :)

  5. In a year, I hope to be well on my way to earning my master’s. I’m starting a literature program this fall!

  6. One year from today I hope to have a great new job, start my Masters, bring our puppy home from Tonga and be pregnant!

  7. This post could not have come at a more relevant time! I was a completely different girl in a completely different place one year ago, and I’ve recently determined that I’m about to move 1,000 away for the next 8 months! After that, who knows where I’ll choose to spend next summer? So I literally have no idea where I will be one year from now…and it’s exhilarating! This time in my life has been one of intense personal growth, and I never expected that at first! I can’t imagine how much I will learn this year and how I’ll grow from it and what great things the universe will bring.

  8. very cool, and how brave of you to put it all out there so we can hold you accountable in a year (haha :))
I need to think on that one…Thanks for getting me thinking though!
