Our Long/Short Weekend

How can a weekend be both long and short? Well, it’s long when you take Friday off, but it becomes short when you spend Thursday night, Friday and Saturday working on a major landscaping project. Thank goodness for helpful friends and family!

The weekend became very short when Sunday came around and it was our only day together as a family. By the time we watched church online, got groceries and tried to figure out why Rooney wasn’t napping, it was time for her bath and to put her to bed. (Rooney had her 2-month shots on Thursday afternoon and the poor girl’s routine was off all weekend.) It was an exhausting three-day weekend for all of us. Here are some photos of the craziness.

Napping on papa after her shots.

The pavers.

Tampin’ ‘er down.

Wheelbarrow workout.

Friday morning fun.

Friday afternoon break for my Rooney fix while Kels went on a DQ run.

Saturday morning. Kels thought it was pretty chilly to go pick out bushes.

These two guys were such a big help. Would have never finished without them.

Kels took Rooney to the store to get some lunch for the busy workers.

Saturday outfit.

It’s a Bob Ross happy tree.

After all the hard work was done, we went to Outback with Kelsey’s parents. Steak and lobster was fantastic.

Sunday morning daddy/daughter dance party.

And then…the afternoon nap party.

And one more trip to the grocery store.

How was your weekend?

Eric

Husband to Kelsey. Father to Rooney. Follower of Jesus. Born and raised in Iowa. I like blogging. Bulleted lists excite me. Thanks for stopping by.

  1. Aww! A Bob Ross happy tree! Haha..

Rooney is so stinkin’ cute! Our kids have always been grumpy for a few days after their shots, especially when they were newborns.

  2. Kelsey was dressed for 6 inches of snow, but poor Rooney was only in a onesie…..no wonder she was fussy!! :) Those darn shots are no fun and throw things off for a while. Hope she gets back on schedule soon!

  3. Looks like a full weekend! Just wondering – what kind of carrier do you guys have (the one Eric is wearing)? And do you like it? We are due in August, so we are starting our registries soon. Just wanted to get an idea of what several families like before we register for a carrier.

    • Congrats on your pregnancy, Robyn! Eric is wearing a Snugli in the photo. We all–including Roo–really like it (ours is an older model that we bought secondhand, and their new line looks really amazing). We also have a Moby wrap, but it is not quite as easy or quick to put on, in my opinion.

  4. I somehow stumbled across your little blog a couple of weeks ago. I just have to say that I truly appreciate all of your honesty on everything you face as a couple and family, and I just love reading your posts. Rooney is so adorable (with such a great name!). Thanks for sharing with all of us!

  5. Poor baby, Roo! I hate it when they get their shots because it totally throws them for a loop!

Sounds like you guys crammed a lot into one weekend! Can’t wait to see the whole project!

  6. Gimmie a ring next time you need a hand with the landscape duties…cause you can bet i’ll be dialing you up many ‘a time over the next few summers for help out here :-D

  7. A tip in the Moby wrap that worked for me: When I knew I wanted to use it somewhere like the grocery store or Target or wherever I was headed, I would tie it on at home first and just drive with it on in the car (obviously SANS baby!!) and when I got to my designation, I’d put my daughter in it before heading inside wherever I was…then I never had to worry about the long ties touching the parking lot, etc, etc. Also, You Tube videos were a huge help in learning how to quickly and efficiently tie it :)
