CAUTION: When you open your cupboards for the world to see, you better be ready for them to be scrutinized heavily.

A few weeks ago we recorded a video post after our weekly grocery trip. The post was done from a financial perspective on how we budget our food money, but we received a handful of comments about how poor our nutritional choices were. Yikes! After we wiped the tears away, we realized that you share out of love!

This left us feeling very convicted about the types of food we put into our bodies. This is something neither of us have ever focused on or cared about. We concluded that we are uneducated in this subject and are in need of a nutritional overhaul.

Disclaimer: We know that God is creating a beautiful baby for us, and we will love our daughter no matter how she looks. But sometimes it’s fun to think about who she might look like in physical appearance and our internal characteristics as well.

We are spawning a super-baby in this post in which our child will have only the best qualities from each of us and none of our flaws. It’s going to be awesome! :)

I know I wrote earlier today about how we spend our time intentionally, but this is seriously one of three shows we watch weekly (we also love Parenthood and Modern Family). We kind of use it as a date night, too!

Have you heard of or seen The Sing-Off? We stumbled upon it at the beginning of this season and it was love at first sound. The show is a musical contest in which there are no instruments aloud. The groups use only their voices to recreate hits with their own flavor.

It’s on Monday nights from 7-9 p.m. on NBC. Since we canceled cable and can’t watch Monday Night Football this season, The Sing-Off has been a great substitute. I think Kels is OK with the trade-off, too. ;)

We have two favorite groups and, in our opinion, no other groups really come close to being as talented. Here are a couple of our favorite performances from this season.

The Dartmouth Aires’ Queen Medley

Pentatonix: Video Killed the Radio Star

Lately I have been reflecting on where I got my yearning for learning. I can’t seem to stop soaking up knowledge in certain areas of my life: faith, blogging, photography and self-improvement. There is so much information on the Internet, and I would guess you could gain more than a novice level of skills in nearly any hobby that fancies your interest.

There are two phrases that come to mind when I think about the idea of continued learning:

“Knowledge is power.”

and

“You can do anything you put your mind to.”

For some reason the first phrase didn’t really sink in when I was watching School House Rock growing up. But I get it now. Knowlegde gives us the power to dream big and take the nessasary steps to get closer to those dreams. And I truely believe that if I spend time learning about something that I am passionate about, I can do anything. Ask Kels, I tell her all the time that I could be an Olympic ski jumper if I wanted to be…but somewhere along the line I missed my calling…
