Fairytale, Chapter 12: The Honeymoon
On Monday after our wedding, we flew out very early from MSP to LAX and enjoyed a week in Santa Monica, Calif. Eric tells me we had the scariest cab ride ever from the airport to Santa Monica, but I hardly remember it so it couldn't have been that scary, right? Our hotel was within walking distance from the Santa Monica Pier and the Third Street Promenade. A honeymoon suite, sun, beach, palm trees, shopping, yummy food and an amusement park? It doesn't get much better!
We didn't make any plans before we went of what we would do during the week. I was looking forward to it so much (more than the wedding day, probably) and just wanted to relax on the beach.
I think every day consisted of sleeping in, going to eat, walking to the beach, realizing it really wasn't very warm outside and especially too cold to swim, then walking to the pier or to the shopping district, eating out, and then back to the hotel to do it all over again the next day.
By the end of the week, we ran out of things to do (especially because we didn't have a car). But I wouldn't change a thing.
I remember we went in the hot tub one night...and then found this awesome fire and watched the sun set.
Another day, we rented a tandem bike and rode 1.5 miles north to Back on the Beach Cafe, where all the celebs eat (thanks to a gift card we got for our wedding), and then south 4.5 miles to Muscle Beach in Venice Beach, and then 3 miles back to our hotel. Thankfully, Eric did most of the pedaling. It's so cool to ride your bike along the sand and water!
Eric also says that we got room service one morning and ate breakfast in bed. You see, this is why I don't write the fairytale...I don't remember anything!
I'd love to go back to Santa Monica someday! But thankfully, the real honeymoon never ends.
Where did you go on your honeymoon?
Eric also wrote a great post about how our honeymoon spending set us up for a couple years of financial disaster that you should totally check out!
