Jethro's Du Soleil

This past weekend, the mom came down and brought my 6-year-old nephew, Kaleb. She also brought with her one of my childhood treasures: my Ninja Turtle collection. Oh yeah, this brought back so many memories. I used to spend endless hours fighting off the Foot and Shredder.Kaleb and Ninja Turtles

The main reason my mom was visiting is because we were going to Cirque Du Soleil "Dralion". So we got up Saturday morning and like the great mother that she is, my mom wanted to help me clean our windows. With Windex? No. Vinegar and hot water. Old school. It worked awesome. Don't believe me? Try it. Scrub the window with the vinegar/water mix and then wipe it dry with a microfiber towel, or a newspaper, mom says. (We used a towel.)

Then, we headed out to get something to eat before the show. Because we were heading downtown, I suggested Jethro's, a local establishment dubbed as the best BBQ in Des Moines. It was featured on Man vs. Food, too! Mom and I had the Better Homes and Garden's Melt: slow-cooked pulled pork and turkey with swiss and cheddar on Texas toast. Is your mouth-watering yet? Kels had the pulled pork nachos. It was delicious, and we will definitely be going back sometime soon. Kels already wants to try something else.

After lunch we headed to the show. We were a bit early, but got to enjoy the beautiful weather outside before heading inside.

Waiting for Cirque Du Soleil

The show was awesome. The folks in the show are so amazingly talented, it was hard to believe some of the stunts they were pulling off. No photography was allowed, otherwise I would have snapped a few shots. We had great seats on the side of the stage in the second row. Thanks, mom, for a wonderfully fun day!
