What's All the Fuss About Google+?

First of all, let me preface this post by saying that I beat Kels in signing up for Google+. In the realm of technology, this is a feat that I never thought I would accomplish. I would like to thank the Academy, and my friend Jeremy for sending me an invite. God bless! Kelsey is always the first one of us to try out the newest gadget/site on the internet. She beat me to MySpace, Facebook, Twitter, Evernote, LinkedIn, Teuxdeux, and Pinterest, just to name a few of our favorites. So, sorry, but I must take this time to relish in my victory.

In all seriousness, Kels has only signed up. Here is the proof...

This is all in fun of course. Kelsey spends plenty of time on all of the other social media sites and doesn't really need another one to keep tabs on. I kind of feel the same way. What's the big hooplah about Google+ anyway? It really looks like a stripped down version of Facebook. Something you would have saw from Facebook five or six years ago, right?

I actually like it. I think the difference between Google+ as it exists right now and Facebook is that it isn't spammed with ads, Mob Wars and Farmville updates yet. It's pretty simple, and the functionality is very clean and works pretty seamlessly--something we have all come to expect from Google.

Here are just a few things I have done with Google+ (very ameatur at this point)

1. Added all my contacts from Gmail into circles. Whether they are members or not yet, they are categorized already and waiting for when they do join.
2. I have uploaded some photos. I really like this functionality. It's super clean and well-displayed.
3. Randomly posted a few updates. The equivalent of a 'Like' on Facebook is the +1 on Google+.

There are all sorts of resources available to help get you started. Google+ Tutorials is a good one, and there are plenty of others out there if you just Google it (of course).

So there you have it: my quick and dirty take on Google+. I give it a +1, but it will only get better and be cooler the more people that are using it.
